Acupuncture is a component of traditional Asian medicine, which promotes natural healing in the body through a comprehensive approach of evaluation and treatment for the whole person.
Acupuncture is proven to be effective in treating these conditions:
- Relief of symptoms associated with cancer treatments such as nausea, fatigue and peripheral neuropathy
- Neurological ailments such as migraines and nerve pain
- Musculoskeletal pain including back pain and pain from arthritis
- Emotional distress including stress and depression
- Digestive problems such as indigestion, constipation and diarrhea
- Respiratory ailments such as asthma and allergies
- Physical injuries including chronic pain and acute sprain
- Chronic disease management
Acupuncture can also be effective for:
- PMS symptoms
- Infertility
- Smoking cessation
- Many other chronic ailments
The initial consultation fee is $130 and follow up treatments are $100 per session. Lahey does not bill insurance companies directly for acupuncture services but in some cases, you will be able to self-submit claims for reimbursement. For an appointment, please call acupuncturist Sophie Barkan at 781-640-2815.
Sophie believes that treatment is most effective when it uncovers the underlying roots of illness and her goal is to restore each patient’s core balance. Through the lens of Chinese Medicine is the recognition that true healing occurs when our minds, bodies and spirits are aligned. She currently sees patients in Oncology and in private practice.
