Training in Advanced Endoscopy
Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (LHMC) is offering a one-year Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). Applicants considered must be currently enrolled in or have completed an accredited three-year gastroenterology fellowship.
Located in Burlington, MA, LHMC is a nonprofit teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine. The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology consists of 25 faculty members.
Over the last several years, the advanced endoscopy practice has grown tremendously. There are currently three physicians who perform advanced endoscopic procedures and one advanced endoscopy physician assistant. Our program is situated 25 miles northwest of Boston and is one of the busiest in the New England area. Our new state-of-the-art endoscopy unit contains two large fluoroscopy rooms.
We perform 2,000 advanced procedures per year which include 700 ERCPs and 600 EUSs per year.
The advanced fellow will learn cognitive aspects and technical skills in advanced endoscopy. Attendance in half a day of pancreaticobiliary clinic per week is recommended. The other day of the day will be doing general GI procedures as an attending physician. The advanced fellow will work with the general gastroenterology fellows to arrange inpatient procedures and facilitate procedures from our busy referral practice. There is no inpatient pancreaticobiliary service. In addition to clinical responsibilities, participation in clinical research is expected.
