Laboratory Accreditation
The Department of Laboratory Medicine at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). CAP is approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as a deeming authority; CAP requirements are deemed as equivalent to or more stringent than CMS’s regulatory requirements. CAP inspects a laboratory in lieu of CMS. Upon successful completion of an inspection, our Laboratory was awarded CAP accreditation and became part of an exclusive group of more than 7,000 laboratories world-wide that have met the highest standards of excellence.
