Lahey Hospital & Medical Center Earns Five-Out-Of-Five-Star Designation from CMS

Burlington, MA – Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (LHMC) has received five-out-of-five stars from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in its annual quality and safety assessment. Less than 10 percent of the over 4,600 hospitals that were assessed received five stars as their Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating.

This is the second consecutive year that Lahey Hospital & Medical Center has received this recognition.

The Overall Hospital Quality Star rating summarizes a variety of measures across five areas of quality into a single star rating for each hospital. The five measure groups include safety of care, readmission, patient experience, mortality, and timely and effective care.

“Earning the prestigious CMS five-star rating is a validation of Lahey Hospital & Medical Center’s unwavering commitment to the safety and high-quality care of all our patients,” said Susan Moffatt-Bruce, MD, PhD, president of Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. “The achievement is a true testament to the dedication and commitment of every member of the hospital’s professional team at all levels to the well-being of every patient we care for.”

This data, found under the CMS Hospital Compare tool, is available for consumers to help them compare performance measure information and make informed decisions about where to go for health care.
