About the Cerebrovascular Disease Center
The Lahey Cerebrovascular Disease Center is a leading referral center in the New England region. Our specialists provide expert care for those with aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations (AVMs).
The team in our multidisciplinary clinic evaluates patients with brain aneurysms, AVMs, dural fistulas, and other vascular disorders. Our Director of Cerebrovascular Surgery works collaboratively with interventional radiologists to develop a comprehensive treatment plan for brain vascular abnormalities.
Advanced Treatment Options
Lahey offers a wide array of treatment options for patients with neurovascular disorders. Our state-of-the-art biplane angiography suite offers outstanding imaging capabilities, including 3D angiographic reconstruction. We use:
- Leading-edge microsurgical techniques
- Minimally invasive endovascular techniques
- Stereotactic radiosurgery
Depending on the size and configuration of the aneurysm or AVM, your neurologist may recommend surgery. Endovascular treatment, which involves coiling aneurysms or gluing AVMs, is a newer minimally invasive technique that can prevent hemorrhage. We use radiosurgery used for some smaller AVM lesions.
