As fellowship-trained head and neck surgical oncologists within the Department of Otolaryngology, we focus on the diagnosis and treatment of both cancerous and non-cancerous diseases in this complex region of the body. We understand that these conditions can affect not only physical health, but also speech, swallowing, appearance, and overall quality of life. Our goal is to deliver expert surgical care while supporting each patient through every step of their journey.
We treat a wide range of conditions, with particular expertise in:
- Head and neck cancers, including cancers of the mouth, throat, voice box, and related structures
- Benign (non-cancerous) tumors of the head and neck
- Salivary gland disorders, including both benign and malignant salivary gland tumors
- Thyroid and parathyroid diseases, including particular expertise with thyroid and parathyroid surgery for cancer and non-cancerous conditions.
A key part of our approach is the use of advanced surgical techniques designed to improve outcomes and reduce recovery time. We specialize in transoral robotic surgery (TORS), a minimally invasive technique that allows us to access tumors of the throat and voice box through the mouth without external incisions. This approach can lead to less pain, faster recovery, and improved functional outcomes for many patients.
For patients requiring more extensive surgery, we offer microvascular reconstructive surgery. This highly specialized technique allows us to rebuild areas of the head and neck using tissue transferred from other parts of the body. These highly complex and specialized surgeries allow us to restore both form and function, helping patients return to normal activities, including speaking and eating, after cancer treatment.

Certain types of hearing loss do not improve with conventional hearing aids or medical therapy. In such cases, surgical implantation of a hearing device may be recommended to improve hearing. The choice of device depends on the underlying condition and the severity of hearing loss, with several options available for appropriately selected patients, including cochlear implants, bone anchored hearing implants and totally implantable hearing aids.
We provide care for the many conditions that affect your nose and sinuses, including:
- Acute or chronic sinusitis (inflammation of your sinuses).
- Nasal blockage due to deviated septum, nasal tumor or nasal polyps.
- Rhinitis (inflammation of the mucus membranes of your nose.
- Sinus headache and fungal-related sinus disease.
You may be a candidate for sleep apnea surgery if structural issues in your nose are causing your condition. We also may operate if your sleep apnea is caused by obstructions of your soft palate and uvula, tongue or neck.
If you suffer from obstructive sleep apnea and are not able to use a CPAP machine, you may be a candidate for a hypoglossal nerve stimulator (Inspire) implant. Our otolaryngology specialists provide comprehensive evaluation to determine candidacy and guide appropriate treatment selection for sleep apnea.
Speech therapy helps address a wide range of voice disorders, as well as speech and swallowing problems. However, surgery is the best treatment option for some conditions.
