What Are Metabolic Bone Diseases (MBD)?

Metabolic bone diseases (MBD) are medical conditions that make bones weaker and less healthy over time. It happens when your body has trouble using important minerals like calcium and phosphorus, which help keep bones strong.

What Is Osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is one of the most common types of metabolic bone disease. It makes bones thin, weak and easier to break.

Common signs of osteoporosis include back pain, gradual height loss and bones that break more easily.

It can happen because of aging, changes in hormones or not getting enough calcium. Things that increase the risk include being over 50 years old, having a family history of osteoporosis, low body weight and taking certain medicines.

A bone density test can help us check how strong your bones are and see if you may be at risk for broken bones (fractures).

The good news is that osteoporosis can be prevented, found early, and treated to help keep your bones strong and lower the risk of fractures.

Advanced Screening & Diagnostic Tests

Bone Density Testing

We offer bone density scans (DXA) to check your bone health. A DXA scan helps us find early signs of bone loss. It also shows us how well your treatment works.

We use advanced technology to diagnose bone diseases. Our tests include:

  • Laboratory Tests: These check your blood and urine for calcium and other minerals. Learn more about our laboratory services.
  • Imaging Tests: X-rays, CT scans and MRIs help us see your bone structure. Learn more about our radiology and imaging services.
Personalized Treatment Plans

We can create a treatment plan just for you, focusing on preventing fractures and improving bone health. Our services include:

  • Lifestyle Changes: Get diet and exercise tips from our nutrition team.
  • Medications: We can talk to you about medication options, including oral medications, injections and IV infusion treatments.
  • Physical Therapy: Strengthen your bones and muscles with help from our physical therapy experts.
