Advanced Diagnostic Testing for Early Detection
At Lahey Clinic, we keep your health and healing at the forefront of all we do. When you come to us for care, you get comprehensive, accurate and timely cancer screenings and diagnostic services.
Our goal is to offer you and your family cancer screenings that can detect cancer in its earliest stages, when it is most treatable. Often, these screenings can detect cancer before you even notice any symptoms or changes in your body.
It’s important to discuss your health concerns, family history and any new symptoms with your primary care doctor. They can tell you how often you should get screened for cancer. They base recommendations on your health, age, sex, lifestyle, family history, results of previous testing and other factors.
Screening Tests for Cancer
At Lahey, we offer various types of cancer screening services, as well as tests for other health conditions.
- Breast health through mammography
- Colorectal health through colonoscopy
- Digestive health though endoscopy
- Genetic testing
- Gynecologic health through HPV and Pap tests
- Hepatology care through liver testing
- Lung cancer screening
- Routine blood work through the laboratory
- Urology health through prostate screenings
More About Cancer Screening and Diagnosis
Cancer diagnostic testing looks for the cause of your symptoms. Or your doctor may recommend further testing after certain results from a routine screening. We perform diagnostic tests to diagnose — or ideally, to rule out — cancer.
At Lahey, we also use advanced testing methods to stage cancer. Staging is done to classify the extent of the cancer in your body (its size, location) and to learn if it has spread (metastasized) to lymph nodes or other organs.
Testing guides your cancer care team as they develop the best, most effective treatment plan for you. Follow-up testing during the treatment phase can show us how well your treatment is working. The results allow us to adjust your care plan, if needed.
Advanced Radiology and Imaging Services
At Lahey, our radiology and imaging teams use the latest processes to evaluate your testing results. You’ll benefit from our multidisciplinary expertise and the advanced technology in our dedicated — often highly specialized — imaging settings.
Experts in Pathology
Pathologists are doctors who are trained to test blood, urine, tissue and other samples using advanced technology in our pathology labs. Pathologists at Lahey work in highly specialized lab settings to screen, diagnose and stage cancer. Their work is important for your care team to create the right treatment plan and lower your risk of the cancer recurring.
Before you begin cancer treatment, during one of our tumor board meetings your case is shared with a team of experts who specialize in the type of cancer you have. Together, we pool our knowledge and expertise to ensure an accurate diagnosis and to plan the best approach to meet your needs.
No matter where you receive treatment after a cancer diagnosis — at any Lahey location — you can count on personalized care from a compassionate and highly trained team.
