At Lahey Clinic, the Department of Surgical Critical Care offers around-the-clock care and treatments in the surgical intensive care unit (ICU). Our highly trained doctors also serve as faculty for the surgical training of medical residents.

Care & Services

After you have a complex surgery from trauma or sudden illness, you’ll likely be cared for in our surgical ICU. Our specialty trained surgical ICU nurses and board-certified doctors offer careful monitoring and outstanding care, whether your surgery was planned or sudden.

We treat these and other critical care issues:

  • Acute respiratory failure
  • Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome
  • Sepsis and septic shock

Education & Training

Many of our surgeons serve as faculty to train the next generation of critical care providers. Lahey offers medical education programs, including a Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program to meet the needs of trainees in this specialized area of medicine and surgical care.
