Care & Services
We provide colorectal cancer services for colon, rectal or anal cancer, as well as other colon and rectal surgical services. You can count on advanced treatments for conditions such as Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, hemorrhoids, fistulas, fecal incontinence and more.
Our surgeons are board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. We specialize in minimally invasive approaches, including laparoscopic and robotic surgeries for the small bowel, colon and rectum.

Research
The Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery uses comprehensive and diverse research initiatives to advance our understanding of colorectal surgery.
We use a qualitative research approach to drive advancements in surgical techniques and help inform evidence-based practices. By embracing this approach to research, we strive to improve patient outcomes, advance surgical techniques and contribute positively to the global medical community.
Research Focus & Methods
The core aims of our research are to improve clinical outcomes, foster innovation and enhance surgical education. We utilize a wide range of research methodologies, including:
- Prospective randomized controlled clinical trials
- Retrospective and prospective cohort studies
- Qualitative research
Our team collaborates with other leading institutions to conduct cohort studies and clinical trials, allowing us to collect and analyze data from diverse patient populations. Our qualitative research focuses on patient perspectives and reported outcomes, providing valuable insights into their experiences.

Research Fellowship Program
We offer a research fellowship program to general surgery residents who have undertaken fully funded dedicated research time. The primary aim of the research fellowship is to prepare participants for successful careers as surgeon-scientists by providing firsthand experience in research methodology across a variety of disciplines within the field of colorectal surgery.
