Education & Training
Lahey Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) are committed to educating the next generation of providers in curriculum specific to resuscitation, pulmonary disease, and medical survivorship.
Through an affiliation with the University of Massachusetts, fellows are trained in the most pioneering treatments used today. We offer two fellowship programs:
Postgraduate Training for Thoracic Endoscopists
We also offer a postgraduate, continuing medical education (CME) course designed for experienced thoracic endoscopists. It covers indications and contraindications. It also covers clinical applications of various procedures in the field of interventional pulmonology such as:
- Cryotherapy
- Electrocautery
- Endobronchial stent insertion
- Laser bronchoscopy
- Medical thoracoscopy
- Percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy
- Photodynamic therapy
- Rigid bronchoscopy
- Transbronchial needle aspiration

Physicians from Lahey’s Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine actively engage in a number of leading-edge studies, on medical conditions such as asthma, adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), interstitial lung disease (ILD), lung cancer diagnosis, pleural diseases, and sepsis.
