Lahey Clinic Announces Second Annual Holiday Clinic for Young Athletes
Lahey Clinic announced today that fellowship trained sports medicine physicians from its department of orthopaedic surgery will host the medical center's second annual Holiday Clinic for Young Athletes on Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving. The Lahey physicians will provide urgent, same-day appointments for any athletes who suffer injuries during Thanksgiving Day competition.

Lahey Clinic Opens Newest Community Group Practice in Lynnfield

Lahey Clinic to host all-day prostate cancer forum for the public
Burlington, MA (September 14, 2009)--As a leader in prostate cancer diagnosis, treatment and research, Lahey Clinic will hold a Prostate Cancer Symposium, open to the public, on Monday, October 5 at the Boston Marriott Burlington. The free event, sponsored by Lahey's Sophia Gordon Cancer Center and the Institute of Urology, is aimed at men at risk, patients with prostate cancer, survivors and their loved ones. All are welcome.

Cardiologists at Lahey Clinic publish findings on takotsubo, syndrome that mimics heart attack mostly in menopausal women
Burlington, MA (August 10, 2009)--In an article appearing in this month's American Journal of Cardiology, Lahey Clinic Medical Center cardiologists publish their five-year study findings on takotsubo cardiomyopathy, a rare but increasingly diagnosed disease that mimics a heart attack mostly in menopausal women after they experience a stressful event, like the death of a loved one or job loss.

Stroke care wins a 'gold' distinction for Lahey Clinic from national program
Burlington, MA (July 30, 2009)--The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get With The GuidelinesSM program has awarded Lahey Clinic the 2009 Gold Performance Achievement Award in using evidence-based guidelines for stroke patient care. Lahey is one of 13 hospitals in Massachusetts to receive the distinction and one of 278 in the nation.

Urologists at Lahey Clinic remove kidney through belly button
Burlington, MA (July 17, 2009)--Using an advanced form of laparoscopy, or minimally invasive surgery, urologists at Lahey Clinic last week successfully removed a diseased kidney from a patient through a small incision in her belly button. The procedure, known as laparo-endoscopic single site (LESS) surgery, is believed to be the first urologic application of its kind in New England.

Cardiologists at Lahey Clinic lead successful trial of device that identifies potentially dangerous plaques
Burlington, MA (July 13, 2009)--Lahey Clinic cardiologists have reported the results of a clinical study validating the use of a device designed to identify fatty coronary plaques in patients that may place them at risk of heart attack. The study, known as SPECTACL (Spectroscopic Assessment of Coronary Lipid) involved more than 100 patients, and results are published in the July issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Cardiovascular Imaging.

Rogers, Henderson appointed to lead Lahey Clinic Board of Trustees
Burlington, MA (June 2, 2009) -- Lahey Clinic announces the appointment of two leaders to the Board of Trustees. Irving E. “Chip” Rogers, III, former chair and publisher of The Eagle-Tribune Publishing Company of North Andover, MA, has been named chair, and James W. Henderson, retired president of the Analytical Systems Engineering Corporation (ASEC) of Burlington, is vice chair. Both previously served on the Lahey Board.
