At Lahey, we understand that there are differences when it comes to men and women and heart problems. Differences in biology. In symptoms. In diagnosis and in treatment.

For too many years, heart disease, or coronary artery disease, has been viewed primarily as a man's issue. In reality, heart disease kills more women annually than it does men. In fact, according to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the #1 killer of women,surpassing all forms of cancer combined. And unfortunately, 64 percent of women who die suddenly because of coronary artery disease had no previous symptoms.

But it doesn't have to be this way. Heart disease can often be prevented, or treated once detected.

How Lahey is Unique

Our goal is to help women care for their hearts. We view our relationship with each patient as a co-partnership. This means we encourage you to ask questions. We listen to your unique concerns. We empower you with information, because we know that when it comes to matters of the heart, education is often the best form of prevention.
